Udupi : GP votes to be counted on June 5

Udupi, June 02, 2015: The district is set for counting of votes of the polls held on may 29 for 155 gram panchayats,  on June 5.  The counting would begin on at 8 am in all the three centers which include St Cecily’s School in Udupi, Bhandarkars Arts and Science College in Kundapur and Jaycee English Medium High School in Karkala respectively. Candidates and their agents who count the vote would be allowed inside with passes to be collected.

Udupi : GP votes to be counted on June 5In Kundapur, polling was held in 291 polling booths of 283 constituencies. At least 125 tables are provided with 552 officials in charge of the counting.   In Udupi polling was held in 374 polling stations of 355 constituencies;  118 tables and 548 officials would be incharge of the counting.  In Karkala, polling was held in 172 polling stations of 168 constituencies and  296 officials would perform the duty and 67 tables have been set up for the purpose.

Udupi DC  Dr. R Vishal said officials would be allotted to  tables through the ’computerized random choice’. The names would be announced at 7 am on the counting day.  A curfew would be in place in the vicinity of the counting centers. Elaborate police security is deployed in the area. Mobile phones are banned. Liquor free days are set from midnight on June 4 to midnight on June 5.
