Udupi: Ex-minister Vasanth Salian dead

Udupi, Jul 25, 2015: Popular leader and long serving politician Vasanth V Salian died due to sudden illness in a city hospital this evening. According to information received, he had suddenly taken ill and was admitted to High Tech Hospital situated at Ambalpady. However despite the best efforts of the doctors, he succumbed later.

Salian had represented Kaup constituency for five terms and had even served as a minister in the state government.

He was serving in the Congress party for much of his life. But in the last elections, he was miffed at being denied a Congress ticket and hence had contested on a JDS ticket.

He leaves behind his wife and two daughters.
