Udupi: Debt-ridden farmer ends life

Udupi, March 2, 2020: A farmer who attempted suicide by consuming pesticide has died at the Ajjarkad Government Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

The deceased is Gundu Naik (58), a resident of Moodu Jeddu in Perdoor village. Sources said the farmer was debt-ridden and chose to end his life unable to repay the loan for want of  sufficient income.

He had consumed pesticide on the morning of February 28 when there was no one in the house. Though he was admitted to the Udupi Government Hospital, he failed to respond to treatment and died there on March 1, Sunday.
