Udupi : DCIB sleuths foil major robbery plan; arrest 4

Udupi, April 24, 2014:  The DCIB sleuths of Udupi have foiled a major robbery plan with the arrest of four persons who were lurking suspiciously near Manippady cross on April 23, Wednesday. All the four arrested are said to be the accomplices of notorious criminal Santosh Poojary. Police have also seized a sword, sickle and a packet of chilly powder from them.


Santosh Poojari 1Those arrested are Mani alias Manikanta Poojary alias Sanjeeva (29) of Karamballi, Vishwanath (27) from Pitrody Udyavar, Haroon Rashid (30) of Shirva and Ashok G Poojary (29) of Udyavara. Meanwhile, another person of the gang Usman managed to give the cops a slip. Reportedly, another associate of this gang, Usman, succeeded in giving the policemen a slip.

The operation was led by DCIB inspector Praveen Nayak.  Police said the arrested four who acted at the behest of Santosh Poojary who is lodged in Hindalaga Jail in Belgaum and used to plan to robe businessman after gathering details about them
