Udupi, Feb 24, 2016:  Speaking to media,  about the Congress debacle in the district that led to the resignation for the post of District Congress Committee President by Gopal Poojary who owns the defeat and holds himself responsible.

Gopal Poojary.jPoojary ruled out any role of Jayaprakash Hegde and his supporters in the Congress defeat. He said Congress is the scapegoat for the fake propaganda of rivals. Congress was made the victim for unnecessary gossip. For instance, Minister Sorake’s statements on Muslim candidates questioning their possibility of wining in the elections was blown out of proportion, which indeed had negative impact on Congress. The BJP gained from the false propaganda, he remarked.

He said the other issue was Congress workers and leaders have failed to reach the programmes initiated by the State government to the poor people and the voters. People in this part of area remained ignorant of the works done by Congress government, he added. He said he has tendered resignation to the DCC president’s post.

On the other hand, jubilant BJP district president Tingalay Vikramarjuna Hegde gave the credit of the victory to all his party members and leaders.

He told the non-corrupt and pro-people rule by BJP in zilla panchayat and three taluk panchayats has guaranteed the victory for the party.

He said the district in-charge minister and the Udupi MLA have failed to keep the assurances they made during the assembly elections.

"The State government is also an utter failure in delivering the pro people governance. The voters in Udupi district were well-versed by the facts and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme has naturally reached to the downtrodden," he claimed.

He added that law and order chaos, instable governance, nepotism and non-stop farmers’ suicide in the State has led to the defeat of Congress in district. BJP is the only alternative before the public, he added.
