Udupi DC warns stringent actions for sharing photos of Corona Positive patients on social media

Udupi, March 26, 2020: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadesha warned on Thursday that those who have shared the pictures of Corona Positive patients of Udupi would be booked under the Medical Confidentiality Act 1955

The Udupi district recorded its first Coronavirus positive case on March 25. After confirming the case, the photos of the patient and his wife went viral in the social media, including Facebook and WhatsApp.

A press release issued by the District Health and Family Welfare Officer on Wednesday said that the man had come from Dubai to Udupi district on March 18. The patient has been kept in the isolation facility at the  designated isolation centre and is undergoing treatment.

The Deputy Commissioner asked people to stay at home and cooperate with the district and law enforcing authorities.
