Udupi DC says he has nothing to do with toll collection row

Udupi, Feb 15, 2017 :  Deputy Commissioner T Venkatesh has clarified that he has got nothing to do with the controversy over toll collection in the district.



T Venkatesh Speaking to reporters here  on February 14, Tuesday, he said as per the rules  the district administration has to ensure police protection in case of any problem during toll  collection. If it fails in this regard then it will be answerable to the court, the DC stated.

He also clarified that prohibitory orders under Section 144 has been imposed at all the toll gates to avert any untoward incident and destruction of public property.

Balakrishna further informed that toll will not be  collected from   vehicles with  K 20  registration by the Navayuga Company till February 25.

Referring to water problem, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the Government   has provided Rs 2 crore to the district as drought relief. Steps are being taken to distribute water to affected areas in tankers he informed.
