Mr. Vishal said it was essential that students learned more about protection of environment. Since children were tech-savvy at a young age these days, they could go to various search engines and gather information about controlling air pollution.

If any industry was found violating the guidelines on environmental protection issued by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, action would be taken against it after investigating the matter thoroughly, he said.

Rajashekhara Puranik, Environment Officer, KSPCB, said that people should opt more for public transport instead of their individual vehicles. Air pollution was rising because the number of vehicles on the road were rising rapidly and many other factors were a serious contribution to unhealthy environments.
