Udupi, Sep 16, 2016 : The attempt made by the activists of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike to stop the Mangaluru-Madagaon Inter-city train at the Udupi railway station as part of their Rail Roko protest against the Supreme Court order to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, was foiled by the city police and the railway Police on September 15, Thursday.
As many as 50 activists of the Vedike had arrived at the railway station but were prevented by the police from entering the station. The activists were later detained and taken to the Manipal station. The train proceeded towards Madagaon without any hindrance.
Security had been stepped up in the railway station in view of the protest.
