Udupi CMC to soon evict illegal petty shops at Malpe beach

Udupi, Nov 3, 2014: The issue of illegal petty shops operating near the Malpe beach came up for discussion at the Udupi CMC meet following which the CMC has decided to evict all unauthorised shops within the next one week.


shrikanth commisoner CMC Commissioner  Srikanth Rao informed the meeting that the CMC had permitted only 24 shops in the beach area to  sell  snacks and other essentials for tourists and that if more shops were found the same would be demolished.

 Prashanth Amin, a Councillor who had earlier raised the issue  said many petty shops had encroached public land near the beach. He was also sore over the authorities for not taking steps to construct a much needed additional toilet near the beach despite   allocation of Rs 45 lakhs for the purpose.

Another Councillor M.R. Pai,  urged the Malpe Development Committee led by the DC to reveal its income.

Meanwhile, conceding to the demand of the Councillors, CMC President P. Yuvaraj said he would be visiting the beach on November 3, Monday.
