Udupi CMC seals restaurant for non-payment of rent

Udupi, Mar 24, 2015: A restaurant named “Kamath’s  City Darshini”  near the city bus stand here was sealed by the Udupi City Municipal Council officials on March 23, Monday  for not clearing rent arrears. The operation was led by CMC Commissioner Dr Manjunathaiah and Revenue Officer Chandra Poojary and was held  amid police protection.

 

Official sources said Manohar Kamath and BR Mahesh who are running the restaurant on partnership  had hired the  space in 2008-2009. They  had not paid their rent since one year  and thus owed Rs 3,60,871 to the CMC.The restaurant was sealed after repeated notices yielded no result.

It has been gathered that in the recent past, a total of seven shops in Manipal and near KSRTC Bus Stand have also been sealed  for non-payment of rent.
