Udupi, Aug 19, 2016 : A CID team led by CID SP Dr D C Rajappa has arrived in Udupi on August 18, Thursday to investigate into the businessman Bhasker Shetty murder case. Karkala ASP who was hitherto the investigation officer into the case has handed over the files pertaining to the case as well as the progress of the investigation so far to D.C. Rajappa.
The CID team has also visited the residence of Gulabi Shedti, the mother of Bhasker Shetty at Katapady Sarakarigudde and has elicited information regarding the same. Sources said the investigation into the case has picked up on the very first day the CID took charge of the probe. Meanwhile, the hearing into the application filed by the police seeking permission to collect the blood samples of Bhasker Shetty’s mother and brothers for the DNA test, was held on Thursday. As the case has been entrusted to the CID, Senior Assistant Public Prosecutor Praveen Kumar R N sought more time in this regard and accordingly the hearing in the case has been put off to August 24.
Niranjan’s father, driver apply for bail : Srinivas Bhat (56), father of priest Niranjan Bhat of Nandalike, the accused in the Bhasker Shetty murder case and Raghu alias Raghavendra (25), the car driver of Niranjan have applied to the Additional Senior Civil Magistrate’s Court through an advocate in Mangaluru, seeking bail. Their bail plea will be heard on August 24.
