Udupi: Aged couple harassed by cousin’s and police

Udupi Dec 17, 2016: An elderly couple named Shankar Hegde and his wife Susheela Shedti residents of Kudapur alleged that Jayasheela Shedti  (Shankar Hegde Cousin) and her family members are harassing the couple over property from last decades.

Addressing media at Press Club on Friday December 16, he said that Shankar;s ancestral property has been partitioned in the year 1972. He was given a share of 46 cents of land and others were shared to his brother and remaining 50 cents were shared to Jayasheela Shedti.

At present Shankar is maintaining his share of coconut and arecenut plantation which is the only source of his livelihood. He also complained that Jayasheela is harassing from last 42 years and she forcibly entered his property and taken away the crops of arecanut grown there and even threatened us, he alleged.

A Civil suit over the property dispute is pending in court since decades and Jayasheela also filed complaint in Brahmavar Police Station. During the visit to Police Station, Inspector Shrikanth verbally abused at my family and threatened to endanger my life.

Shankar Hegde submitted memorandum to SP KT Balakrishna over the issue and SP contacted the Brahmavar inspector immediately and took him to task. Later Shankar received a call from Bhramavar Police station asking him for a possible compromise.
