Udupi : 4 child labourers rescued from jewellery making unit

Udupi, July 18, 2018: The officials of the Labour Department, Child Protection Unit and the Police Department in a joint operation have rescued four child labourers of West Bengal origin who were working in a jewellery manufacturing unit.

 

 Based on a tip off, the team of officials raided the Jewel Park located near the Chittaranjan Park  on July 18, Wednesday and  rescued a boy aged 17 and three other children aged 13  and have  handed them over to the Child Welfare Committee.

As a jewellery making unit uses chemicals and gas, it is considered hazardous, A case has been registered against the owner of the firm.

Labour officials have informed that all the four rescued boys will be subject to medical examination.
