Udupi:3 dead as tempo carrying pandals for PM’s event overturns

Udupi, April 29, 2018: An Eicher tempo carrying pandals to be put up at Udupi MGM College grounds in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event, rammed against an electric pole and overturned near Perdoor on April 29,  Sunday killing three labourers. Eight others were injured and have been admitted to a private hospital in Manipal.

One of the injured has been identified as Murthi of Chitradurga. The other two are said to be of Assam origin.

There were a total of 14 labourers in the tempo. The negligence of the driver is said to be the reason  behind the mishap. The tempo was from Chitradurga.

The PM is scheduled to visit Udupi on May 1.
