Udupi : 2 injured in lightning strike; few houses damaged

Udupi, May 23 2018: Heavy rains accompanied by thunder and  lightning that  lashed various parts of the district late night on Monday and early Tuesday has caused much damage.

A woman named Sugandhi Sherigarthi  of Herga Holebagilu sustained burn  injuries on her neck and back while the clothes which she was wearing also caught fire during lightning strike. The gold chain which she was wearing has burnt, while her house has also suffered damage.

In another incident, 13 year old Sandesh, son of Sadananda Nayak of Moodubelle Kodangala sustained injures in lightning strike and has been admitted to the Government Hospital at Ajjarakad.

Lightning has also damaged the welcome Gopura of the Kaup Poyya Podikalla Garodi.  A tree fall at Hirebettu has damaged the house of a woman named Sugandhi.

The house of Janardhana Poojary of Kapejalu in Charvaka village also suffered damage and electrical wiring burnt  due to lightning strike. Even coconut trees were burnt due to lightning strike.
