US experts to talk on U.S.-Pakistan relations in Manipal today

Manipal: August 21, 2015: Stephen Tankel, assistant professor at American University’s School of International Service in Washington, D.C. and a non-resident senior fellow at the Centre for New American Security, will address students of the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations, Manipal University, on “U.S.-Pakistan relations in the emerging geopolitical environment” here on Friday.

In a release on Thursday, Arvind Kumar, head of the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations, Manipal University, said that based on his engagements in Pakistan and his time as a senior adviser at the Department of Defence, Prof. Tankel will offer his impressions on prospects for the future of U.S.-Pakistan relations and his assessments regarding future progress. He will deliver the lecture at 2 p.m. at the Old TAPMI building here. All those interested in strategic studies could attend.

Prof. Tankel specialises in international security with focus on political and military affairs in South Asia, transnational threats, Islamist militancy, and U.S. foreign and defense policies related to these issues.

He has conducted research and published widely on these topics. Prof. Tankel is on the editorial board of “Studies in Conflict and Terrorism” and is a senior editor of the web magazine “War on the Rocks,” the release added.
