Two students of city college assaulted near pump well

Mangalore, Sep 19, 2014:  According to police, two students of a city based ’Mangalore Institute of Fire Safety Engineering (MIFSE)’ were injured when a group of 10 to 15 persons assaulted them with leathal weapons, at Pumpwell on September 18. One student said to be Kalandar (18) was injured in the incident while his friend Ajmal, was injured by  stones pelted at him.

It is said, 6 students were waiting in the bus stop when 10 to 15 persons came in a vehicle and pelted stones and attacked with iron rod. Kalandar was injured when the rod hit his head. To escape from the assailants, the students ran away.  The group which was attacked on Seppt 18, was involved in a minor  incident and had a dispute with the other group over a trivial issue in the college during Teachers’ Day celebrations recently. However, matters were settled amicably after the college principal intervened and spoke to both the groups.

As per information,  some of the attackers were named as Punith Raj Kottary, Pradeep Pumpwell and Pramod Suvarna.  A case has been registered in Kankanady rural station and investigations are on.
