Mangaluru, Nov 11, 2017: Mangaluru City police have arrested two persons peddling with ganja near Maroli on November 11, Saturday.
The accused arrested are identified as P Raghu(36) and Prakash(26), both resident of Belur in Hassan.
Acting on a tip-off that huge quantity of ganja was being transported from Andhra Pradesh via Hassan is brought to city, Mangaluru East police intercepted a car near Maroli found 11kg of ganja and arrested two persons. 11kg ganja, a car and cellphones total of Rs 3.80 lakh was seized from possession.
Sources said that one of the accused and kingpin Raghu runs a bakery in Andhra Pradesh and used to procure ganja grown by tribals. He would transport it to his house in Belur, Hassan and later supply it to various places including Bengaluru and Mangaluru. A case has already been booked against him in Bengaluru for ganja peddling.The peddlers use to supply ganja to Manipal, Mangaluru and Kasaragod.
Case has been registered for further investigations.
