Speaking on the occasion, Vinay Hegde described Mangaluru as a model city in the entire nation and added that he was proud to be born an Indian. At the same time, he said it was indeed regretting to note the opposition to the construction of a shrine for a Lord considered ideal to everyone. "Religious issues should not creep into politics and vice versa. However the contrary is happening now," he regretted.
Editor of Organiser Prafulla Ketkar in his address said we should never compromise with the real spirit of India. He also hoped such events will be held at several places to remind the society of the idea of Bharath. "Our Experience as well as Feelings itself is Bharath," he said.
A Vyasa Peetha with palm leaf manuscripts kept on the dais was the centre of attraction at the event.
