Twin districts to mark ’International Yoga Day’ tomorrow

Mangaluru, June 20, 2016: Speaking to media, Yoga therapist Dr Manjarichandra said the celebrations will begin with demonstration on various Yoga Asanas. The Udupi district administration, in association with zilla panchayat, Ayush department and department of Youth Empowerment and Sports will observe International Yoga Day at District Indoor Stadium at Ajjarakadu on June 21 at 7 am.


InternationalSristi Foundation, Udupi, in association with Paryaya Sri Krishna Mutt, is organising ’Yoga Prajna’ to mark International Yoga Day here at Rajangana on June 21.  Yoga expert from Sri Lanka Pradeepa N Aracchige would deliver a talk.

It will be followed by a stage programme where the Paryaya Pejawar Mutt seer Vishwesha Theertha Swami will deliver a religious discourse.

She said Prof Dr Krishna Hebbar from Yoga Department of Manipal University will speak on ’Body Fitness - Yoga and Ayurveda’. The last talk will be by Pradeepa N Aracchige on ’Significance of Chakra in Pranic Body’, she added.

The Samithi will also organise a programme at Rajangana. Vishwesha Theertha Swami will inaugurate the programme. Karambali Shivram Shetty from Bharath Swabhiman Trust said 1,000 people are expected to take part in the programme.  A Yoga demonstration will be held on the occasion.   Besides, a separate session will be held to create awareness on lifestyle diseases, he added.

DK Celebration :  On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Pathanjali Yoga Samithi will organise free Yoga camps in different parts of the Dakshina Kannada district on June 21 at 6 am.

Briefing media, Bharath Swabhiman Karnataka wing co-convener Dr Jnaneshwar Nayak said the camps will be held at Newberry Commercial Complex, Kapikad Road; Sribharathi College, Nanthoor; Ganeshpura Sri Mahaganapathy Hall; Bappanadu Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple Hall; Buntara Bhavana, Surathkal; Sparsha Building in Urwa and at the house of Jaya Muddu Shetty, Kenchanakere, Mulki.
