Tulu quarterly magazine ’Udal’ released

Mangalore, Nov 17: Tulu Quarterly "Udal," edited and published by Jayanthi S Bangera, resident of Moodubidri, was officially released during a formal function in the Press Club on Nov 17, Tuesday. 

Harikrishan Punaroor, the former president of Kannada Sahithya Parishad (KSP), released the magazine and made a speech in which he lauded the editor for bringing out a magazine in a regional language.

Jayanthi S Bangera said that she decided to start “Udal” as a means of self-expression. She said: “My articles, along with the writings of other Moodubidri writers, were not getting published in newspapers and magazines at the right time, owing to which I decided to start a Tulu magazine of my own.” She expressed her joy at having finally realized her dream. 

Dr Vamana Nandavar, the chief guest of the occasion, appreciated the magazine and said that it is indeed a great achievement to publish a magazine in a regional language. He urged people to appreciate the efforts of the editor and to encourage her. 

M P Seetharam Kulala, the former president of Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy and M V Vishwanatha, the eminent author, were also present at the dais.
