Tulu Siri in Delhi on Feb 24 to urge for due constitutional recognition to language

Mangalore, Feb 19, 2013 :  A Tulu convention named “Delhi Tulu Siri’ will be held at Delhi Kannada School premises on February 24 in order to pressurize the government to include Tulu in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution. The event will be held under the joint auspices of Tulu Siri, Tulu Sahitya Academy and Department of Kannada and Culture.

Informing this to reporters here, Vasanth Shetty Bellare, convener, Delhi Tulu Siri, said the convention is being organized with the hope that the longstanding demand of Tuluvas with regard to due status to the language, would be fulfilled. The convention, he said would be at tended by   elected representatives, writers, politicians and Kannada actors.


Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily will inaugurate the convention while a host of dignitaries including Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha member, Mallikarjuna Kharge, K Rehman Khan, Muniappa, Union Ministers, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, DV Sadananda Gowda, former CM, Jayaprakash Hegde, Udupi MP, Kota Srinivas Poojari, Udupi district in-charge Minister, Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, will participate.


A variety of  Tulu cultural programmes will also be organised.
