Tulu Academy Honorary Awards presented

Mangaluru, July 1, 2018: The Tulu Sahitya Academy  Honorary Award presentation ceremony was held at the Siri Chavadi of Tulu Bhavan here on June 30, Saturday.

Dr Shimanthur Narayana Shetty (Yakshagana), Sesappa Pambada (Tulu folk), Shakuntala Bhat (Tulu literature) were conferred the Honorary Awards for their outstanding contribution in their respective field. The Tulu Academy  Book Award was presented to Chandrahas Suvarna.

Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Sri Kshetra Odiyoor who blessed the occasion said there was a need to spread the fragrance of Tulu across the globe. He also   appreciated the Tulu text books meant for students who have opted Tulu as one of the subjects in schools.

A C Bhandari, President of the  Academy presided over the function. Registrar Chandrahas Rai B, Kannada and Culture Department  Deputy Director Rajesh B, Mayor Bhasker Moily, Corporator Radhakrishna were present among others.
