Trivial issue leads to group clash in Gangolli ; miscreants attack journalist

Kundapur, Nov 28, 2014:  Two persons including a journalist were injured following a clash between two groups of different communities at Melgangolli in Gangolli Gram Panchayat limits on November 27, Thursday night.

 

If a youth named Haneef who was one among the warring groups was injured during the clash, Raghavendra Pai, a journalist from Gangolli who had arrived at the spot to gather information was also beaten up and his bike damaged by miscreants.

It is learnt that one group hurled soda bottles at the other over some  reason, when the latter were returning after attending a function. resulting in the clash. However, a major untoward incident was averted due to the timely intervention of the police.

Sources said the motorbike of the journalist was badly damaged and he has suffered injuries in hand due to the attack.


 A complaint and counter complaint has been lodged. If one complaint  lodged by Naveen said that around 40 people including Ilyas and Haneef attacked  him, a counter complaint was lodged by Haneef. Even the injured journalist has lodged a complaint.

Additional police forces have been sent to Gangolli  to avert any further untoward incident.
