Tree fall: Auto driver stops vehicle in nick of time; saves lives

Mangaluru, Apr 23, 2019:  Five people travelling in an autorickshaw and also the driver had a  miraculous escape, thanks to the presence of the mind  of the driver  on April 22, Monday.

 

Auto driver Umesh Poojary who was ferrying three women and two children to Someshwar Park from Talapady noticed the mango tree on the verge of collapse and stopped the autorickshw in the nick of time.

The result was that the tree damaged only a small portion  of the autorickshaw. The lives of all six including the driver were thus saved.

The tree was located near the Kotekar panchayat office. Luckily no other vehicle was at the spot when the tree came crashing down. As a railway gate is also located nearby there are times when a long queue of vehicles are seen here.

The road was later cleared for traffic by the Ullal police and MESCOM personnel.
