Tragic end for snake expert; King cobra bites while posing for photo

Chikkamagaluru, Sep 23, 2015: In a tragic incident, a snake expert lost his life after he was bitten by a King Cobra while posing for the camera after trapping the snake at Kalkodu near Kalasa on September 22, Tuesday.

The deceased snake expert is Prafuldas Bhat (66).  Bhat was earlier summoned to trap the cobra which was spotted in a plantation. Though he succeeded in trapping the snake, he took the reptile in his hands and posed for a photograph when the cobra bit him.

Though Bhat was immediately rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved.

He was instrumental in catching several snakes of different species in the past three decades.
