Tragedy on rly track: Engg student loses life, another injured

 Puttur, Sep 29, 2014: An engineering student of the Vivekananda Engineering College of Puttur met a tragic end on September 28, Sunday when she was run over by a train near Nehru Nagar. Another student who reportedly tried to save the former has sustained critical injuries and is admitted to a hospital in Mangalore.

The deceased is Varsha (19), a second year engineering student and daughter of Dayananda Alva of Konchady in Mangalore. The injured student named Ratna hails from Eshwaramangala.

The mishap is learnt to have taken place when the two were taking photographs  near the railway track when suddenly Varsha’s veil got entangled in the track.

The railway police as well as Puttur police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the hospital.
