Tragedy at Uchila Talapady : Teenager drowns; 2 others rescued

Mangaluru, Oct 3, 2015: A teenager lost his life while two of his friends were rescued  after they were caught in the silt of the river at Alivebagilu near Uchila Talapady on October 2, Friday.

The deceased boy is Arfaz (16), son of Abbas  of KC Nagar.  He was studying in the Falah School.

It is learnt, nearly 15 boys had been to the river to enjoy  swim as it was a holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanthi. However as they were swimming three of them were caught in the silt beneath. Locals on hearing the screams of the boys managed to rescue two others while Arfaz could not be saved.

Large quantity of silt was accumulated at the estuary and the boys who were totally unaware of it had come there to enjoy the day unaware of the dangers that lay ahead.

Local police have registered a case.
