Mangaluru, Dec 13, 2015: As per reliable reports, the residents and DYFi - Democratic Youth Federation of India activists, forced city buses to pass through the yet-to-be completed road underbridge (RuB) , on the Padil-Bajal main road on Dec 12, Saturday.
The underbridge construction had started in August 2014 and was supposed to be completed by February 2015. After pushing deadlines, the Railways completed its work beneath the tracks. But the movement of vehicles did not start as the approach road on Bajal side could not be completed because of the MCC - Mangaluru City Corporation’s consistent failure to get the design approved by the Railways and acquire land for the work. During the work, the vehicles were being diverted.
On Dec 12, Saturday morning, residents and DYFI activists made buses pass through the road underbridge. There were skirmishes between the residents and counsellor Vijaykumar Shetty, when the latter asked buses not to use the underbridge till the work was completed and officially authorised.
