Tourism development to be promoted in Dakshina Kannada: DK DC Jagadeeesha

Mangaluru, Dec14, 2016 : Deputy Commissioner Dr KG Jagadeesha accepted suggestions from the tourism department and other associations of Mangaluru in order to promote tourism in Dakshina Kannada. An interaction meet on coastal Karnataka tourism organized jointly by the DK district administration and Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on December 14 Wednesday. 


DC K G Jagadeesha said the beach has lived up to the potential of emerging as a surfing destination and the administration and KCCI will promote it so. It is our intent to make the beaches in district lively and vibrant to justify the government investment that goes in to it.

He also owed gratitude to Kanara Chamber of commerce and Industry to initiate in improving the tourism in the district.

Subodh Shetty came up with suggestion regard to beach tourism to promote cycling track in the stretch of Panambur and Baikampaady, and also suggested for the pavement near Tannirbhavi beach which helps the tourists who prefers to walk on the river side.

Suggestion was also given to construct replica of marine drive in the sea shore with food court where families like to spend good time and tourists can get attract tourists in large.


Prakash from Kudla Souharda Sahakara Sangha said that, training should be given to the auto drivers on cashless payment and tourism department need to endorse such autos. We are also looking forward to install tab in auto rickshaw which passenger can access to various information releated to the district. Recently auto rickshaws went on to be cashless by installing PAYTM which is also boosts tourism sector.

Suggestions also come up to put up sign boards on tourism destinations wherever required and also construct toilets in the beach side as complaint was raised against the open defication in beach side and district administration should take stringent action against such issues.

Shashihitlu beach to be surfing destination as Dhruvin Jasani  of  of Mangalore Surf Club suggested to make shashihitlu beach to be surfing destination and also Panambur and Tannirbhavi should be considered for the same, at the same time it is necessary to mark surfing area.He also suggested to install CCTV camera which can be linked to web portal which makes people aware of the safety and also need to look on for the sponsors for the cameras.

Few people also alleged that Someshwara and Talapady beaches are neglected by the district administration as two years back nearly 3 crores has been sanctioned for the up gradation of the beach but till today nothing has been done.

DC Dr KG Jagadeesha said that, all the suggestion will be considered and go accordingly to take it to implementation level.
