Tourism department distributes tourist taxis to unemployed SC/ST youth

Mangalore, June 27: The Tourism Department of Karnataka, under the leadership of Janardhan Reddy, distributed the keys of tourist taxis to needy and unemployed members of the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes on the second floor of the DCO auditorium at 4 p.m. District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar distributed keys of tourist taxis to more than 14 beneficiaries

DC V. Ponnuraj said on the occasion that we are all duty bound to help visitors and newcomers to our state by taking them around. The SC/ST youths who know driving, but are unemployed require the state’s help to work for the promotion of tourism, owing to which the plan of distributed tourist taxis was implemented, he informed.

Palemar, who presided over the programme, said that SC/ST youth require encouragement. Declaring that tourism will develop if these youth come forward, he urged the people of the SC/ST categories to grow and develop and assured them of government support.

Mayor of Mangalore Rajani Dugganna and Adilakshmamma of state tourism were the dignitaries on the dais.
