Total lockdown in Dakshina Kannada from 7 pm today till 7 am on May 25

Mangaluru, May 23, 2020:    Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has issued an order  enforcing total lockdown in the district from 7 pm on May 23, Saturday to 7 am on May 25, Monday with a view to check the spread of Covid-19.

However essential services  have been exempted from the lockdown. Shops selling vegetables, fish, meat, milk and medicines will  be exempt from the lockdown. However, all other business establishments, hotels and bars will be closed. Even movement of private vehicles has been banned during the period.

Conditional permission for scheduled marriages :  The administration however has permitted to hold marriages already fixed for the day. However permission from local administration is mandatory. Even those travelling to the wedding venue have to avail permission. The marriage has to  be conducted in accordance to the government guidelines. As for the rest no other activity will be permitted.
