Total bundh in Belthangady against Yettinahole Project

Belthangady, Oct 7, 2015 : A total bundh is being observed in Belthangady Taluk on October 7, Wednesday  to pressurise he government to drop the controversial Yettinahole project. The bundh call was given by the Netravathi Ulisi Horata Samithi and the same has been backed by over 40 like minded organisations.

The entire taluk has come to a standstill with  almost all shops and business establishments too downing their shutters. Even buses and autorickshaws are off the roads. In view of the bundh, holiday has been declared to schools and colleges in the taluk.

There are reports of the anti-Yettinahole activists staging Rasta Roko at several places. One could also see tyres burnt on the middle of the roads at some places.

Meanwhile, in the town of Belthangady, there was a novel protest with some people even taking o bullock carts and horse carts as a means of protest.

Security across the taluk has been tightened  in view of the bundh.
