Toll collection will be stopped from April 1, Shobha warns Navyug

Udupi, Jan 31, 2020: Udupi-Chikkmagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje reviews the progress of center-sponsored works at DISHA (District Development coordination and Monitoring committee) meeting organised at the Zilla Panchayat hall in Udupi.


Toll collection will be stopped from April 1, if the flyover works at the Shastri Circle are not completed by March, Udupi-Chikkmagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje warned on Wednesday.

“Navyug Company should complete work on flyover at Shastri Circle and a bridge at Padubidri Junction by March end,” stressed Shobha, while reviewing progress of center-sponsored works at DISHA (District Development coordination and Monitoring committee) organised at the Zilla Panchayat hall.

She urged the officials to expedite the process of acquiring land which was delaying the construction of Malpe-Thirthahalli national highway. Karandlaje warned that the companies which fail to complete works before the onset of monsoon will be blacklisted.

She directed the officials to hold meetings with the RTO to revise the timings and the routes of KSRTC buses plying in the district. The DHO said that out of 7,31,543 beneficiaries with Ayushmann Bharat cards, 6,816 had availed treatment. The MP instructed that all the poor facing health issues should be attended by the hospitals in the district. She also said that the construction of illegal hospitals should be scrutinized.

District Agricultural department joint director Kempegowda said that as many as 1,40,371 farmers had enrolled under the Krishi Samman Yojana. Of which 1,28,899 beneficiaries had received the first installment of financial assistance, while 1,25,437 had received the second installment, 72,317 had received the third installment and 3,542 beneficiaries had received the fourth installment.

He said 1,192 farmers had received Rs 1,739,000 lakh under the calamity relief funds. The Revenue officials expressed their inability to complete a few works owing to opposition from Forest department.

The Kendriya Vidyalaya planned at Alevoor will not be built owing to the objections raised by the Forest department. The officials urged the MP to hold talks with the Forest department and sort out the objections.

The MP insisted that notices should be issued to officers who had skipped the meeting. She said the chief minister was apprised about the problems preventing the effective implementation of ‘Mathrapurna Scheme’. The MP had appealed to the government on giving cash or cereals. The ZP chief planning officer said that the cashless service at Kadur gram panchayat was successful and the scheme will be extended to another 15 gram panchayats.
