Three unclaimed bodies buried in Udupi

Udupi, May 27, 2015: The Udupi District Nagarika Samiti buried three unclaimed bodies at the Hindu graveyard at Beedinagudde on the outskirts of Udupi here on Wednesday.

They were handed over by the Udupi town police and City corporation to the Nagarika Samiti, a voluntary organization.

The unidentified bodies were lying unclaimed at Ajjarkadu Government Hospital since a month, the last rites were performed due to lack of storage at the mortuary.

There is storage space for only 9 bodies at Ajjarkad Hospital, 7 bodies had been kept unclaimed since a month at the mortuary. The hospital was facing problem of storing bodies of locals who had recently passed away.

The General Secretary of Nagarika Samiti Nityananda olakadu noticed the problem and obtained the permission from the local and district surgeon and gave decent burial to the three bodies.

The Samiti informed that the remaining four bodies would be buried in a few days after the formalities.
