Three more arrested in RSS worker Sharath Madivala murder case; total arrests up to 8

Mangaluru, August 19, 2017: The Mangaluru police have arrested three more people in connection with the murder of RSS worker Sharath Madivala. This takes the number of arrests made in this case to eight.


Sharath MurderThe arrested are Shali and Sadique, both from Hassan and Jabbar from Uppinangady. All three have been arrested on charges of aiding and sheltering main accused in the murder case.

The police had earlier arrested Khaleelulla, a Popular Front of India leader of Chamarajanagar and Abdul Shafi from Bantwal, and followed it up with the arrest of Riyaz Paranki, Sadiq Nelyadi and Khaleem alias Khaleemullah.

Khaleem is a resident of Chamarajanagar and is said to be a friend of Khaleelullah, the one of the main accused who is also the President of PFI’s Chamarajanagar unit.

Sources suspect that one more prime accused in the case is absconding abroad.

The murder of RSS worker Sharath in July had led to massive protests and unrest in coastal districts. Stone pelting was witnessed in his funeral, a video of which has bee submitted to the court by the police. Sharath was stabbed multiple times by miscreants on July 4. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to injuries later.
