This wedding at Kanhangad was a display of exemplary communal harmony

Kasargod, Feb 18, 2020:  A  marriage held at the Mannyot  Temple at Kanhangad  was a display of exemplary communal harmony. It was the wedding of a Hindu orphan girl who was   brought up by a Muslim couple from Melparamba. The 22 year old girl Rajeshwari, foster daughter of  K Abdulla-Khadeeja couple, was given  in marriage to  Vishnuprasad of Kanhangad Pudiya Kota.  The wedding was attended by several relatives, friends and well-wishers from both sides.

 

Rajeshwari had first arrived at Abdulla’s house 12 years ago with a  nomadic woman. On coming to know that she was an orphan, the Abdulla couple decided to take care of her along with their  three other children. The couple has now won the hearts of many by  even conducting the marriage of Rajeshwari.

The marriage rituals  were held  under the guidance of the chief priest of the shrine.
