Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru , Feb 17,2017:  Mahesh Shetty Thimarody, President of the Praja Prabhutva Vedike who until a couple of years ago was in the lead in the  Justice for Sowjanya fight, has  said that he has no faith in the CBI probe into the case. He also demanded that the case be investigated by the CBI  under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

Speaking to reporters here on February 17, Friday, Shetty alleged that "influential people were behind the case  as a result of which the parents  of Sowjanya had to still wait for justice." Referring to the recent orders of the CBI special court to conduct fresh enquiry into the case, Thimarody said he has lost faith in the  CBI.

"Why had  the CBI not looked into the eyewitness account  that  Dheeraj Jain, Malik Jain and  Uday Jain were at the scene of the crime ?," questioned Thimarody and said he wanted to  know  if the CBI was acting at the directions  of anyone.

Alleging that the investigation into the case  had progressed at a snail’s pace ever since the beginning, he said many  facts have been ignored.

Referring to the statements of the three suspects who had  convened a press meet on Thursday and said  they had been thoroughly questioned and all tests were done, Thimarody questioned why  there was no documented evidence of the same.

Once again reiterating that influential people are involved in this case, Thimarody said "the CBI should have to first enquire those officials who initially handled the case."  He also demanded that a CBI team from another state should take up  the case.

As pointed out by Sowjanya’s parents, even Thimarody alleged that Dr Adam of Belthangady Hospital had acted under pressure and that he had ignored the bite marks on Sowjanya’s chest which finds no mention in the post-mortem report.

Kusumavathi, mother of Sowjanya, Vittal Gowda, her uncle and others were present at the press meet.
