Udupi, Dec 14, 2015: Thieves who broke into the Nandikur branch of Syndicate Bank on the night of December 13, Sunday have decamped with a cash of Rs 2 lakhs. The thieves had gained entry into the bank premises through the rear window by cutting its rods using a gas cutter.
The absence of a security guard at the branch as also CCTV cameras outside the branch premises is said to have proved a boon to smugglers.
The theft came to light when the bank staff arrived at the branch premises on Monday morning. A canine squad and finger print experts have been rushed to the spot.
Padubidri police have registered a case.
