Thieves broke into residence of elderly steal valuable

Mangaluru, June 14, 2016: The Mangaluru Rural Police said that a 70-year-old woman, who was staying alone in a house in Padil, was robbed of her gold ornaments and cash early on June 13, Monday.


robbed Naming,  Neena Jayapal who was staying alone in her house in Darbar Hill, off Padil Main Road. Around midnight just as  Jayapal had retired to bed, a thief broke open the balcony door, entered the house and reportedly smothered   Jayapal with a cloth. The attack rendered her unconscious.

The police say that the thief made away with 12 gold bangles, three gold chains, four gold rings, some expensive watches and Rs. 30,000 in cash.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjeev M. Patil said that they were investigating the role of a gang from Kerala in the theft.  Investigations are on the police said.
