Testing centre at Talapady closed down ; only those with RT-PCR negative reports allowed

Mangaluru, Aug 02, 2021: Following a spike in Covid cases in Dakshina Kannada district and following the instructions from the state government to initiate tough measures, the DK District Administration has closed the Talapady order and is permitting only those with an RT-PCR negative report from August 2, Monday.

Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra and City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar visited the check post at Talapady today.  The  RT-PCR testing centre that was functioning at Talapady has been closed down and those coming from Kerala have been asked to get their RT-PCR reports themselves from their state. All those without an RT-PCR negative reports are now sent back.

Keralites unhappy : Meanwhile, several people from Kerala who had queued up at the border to enter the district  were disappointed due to the shutting down of the testing centre. Many even demanded that those who are fully vaccinated be permitted.

The sudden decision of the authorities even resulted in confusion in the area for some time.
