Mangaluru, Jan 23, 2020 : City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha has said that Aditya Rao, the accused in the case of planting an explosive device at the Mangaluru International Airport has told the police that he had visited the Airport area at least two to three times on earlier occasions before planting the explosive.
Speaking to media persons here, the Commissioner said Aditya Rao who worked at Kudla Hotel in December was preparing bomb during holidays after procuring essential raw materials through online. However fearing that he may be trapped, he quit the job and joined another hotel in Karkala, the Commissioner added.
The Commissioner further said a terror case has been registered against Aditya. He has been subjected to medical examination, the Commissioner said adding once produced before the court, the police will appeal to seek his custody.
The remains of the explosive found at the airport has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, he added.
The Commissioner said three cases of making hoax bomb calls have been filed against him. While in Chikkaballapur jail he had hatched a plan to plant a bomb and had done enough internet search on bomb making, the Commissioner added.
