Tension in Kasargod after RSS Vijayshakti rally: Vehicles, shops, houses stoned

Kasargod,Feb 2, 2015 :  Several vehicles , houses and shops were damaged in stone pelting incidents reported from  the district on the night of February 1, Sunday  when activists were returning in vehicles  from the RSS Vijayshakti Rally  held earlier in the day.

It is learnt it all began when some miscreants pelted  stones at the vehicles of the activists  and in retaliation another group resorted to stone pelting  at Povval and Bovikkan. It is said even a bus carrying RSS workers was stoned at Arikkady.  The incidents disrupted vehicular movement on the Kasargod-Mangaluru NH for several hours.

It has been gathered that police had to even resort to lathi charge to control the mob. The situation is said to be tense at Povval, Arikkady, Bovikkan and Kumble.

 The RSS had earlier organised a Vijayshakti Rally  at the Kasargod Government College Grounds and it is estimated that over 25000 RSS workers had participated in the rally presided over by Brigadier KN Rai from Mangaluru. Even a procession was taken out prior to the commencement of the rally.
