Ten spots in city get first taste of Swachh Mangaluru drive

Mangaluru, Oct 12, 2016: In the city, Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan of Ramakrishna Mission held at 10 different places in the city. Ramakrishna Mission has plans to carry out 400 such drives across the city in coming months.

RamakrishnaAt Mulihithlu, the members of Amba Maheshwari Bhajana Mandir Group took up the cleanliness drive. Swami Chidambaranandaji of Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru and Seetharam of Bhanjana Mandir jointly flagged off the drive. The group took up thecleanliness drive from 7.30am to 9.30am under the guidance of Umanath Kotekar.

At Morgans Gate, the residents of Bhagini Samaj participated in the drive guided by Ratna Alva. Konchady Friends Circle carried out the Swachh Abhiyan at Konchady- Derebail. Jagadish Shetty flagged off the drive while Swami Ekagamyanandaji was present.

At Jeppu, the members of Nivedita Balaga carried out the cleanliness drive at the market area. Dileep Kumar, principal of Sri Devi Engineering College, flagged off the drive. The group was guided by Vijayalakshmi.

At Karavali Maidan, the members of ’Team Vivek’ under the guidance of MLC Ganesh Karnik carried out the drive in front of Karavali Maidan. Swami Dharmavratanandaji of Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mission flagged off the drive.

At Car Street, the students of the Government First Grade College, Car Street carried out the cleanliness drive. MLC Ganesh Karnik and college principal Rajashekar Hebbar flagged off the drive. The team cleaned Car Street in two hours under the guidance of Dilraj Alva.

A team of Paramajoythi Manava Seva Samiti took up the cleanliness drive in Kudroli area. Students of Sri Narayana Guru College too joined the Abhiyan. Swami Dharmavratanandaji and guest Manohar Prabhu flagged off the drive.


At Kalladka, the members of Swacch Bharath Nirmana Sangha and Sri Rama Vidya Kendra carried out the drive. Swami Ekagamyanandaji of Ramakrishna Mission launched the drive. Volunteers Prabhakar Bhat, Narayan Somayaji, Vasanth Madhav, institute Principal Krishanprasad and Ramesh Nayak were present. Swami Ekagmyanandaji briefed them about the Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan. Nitte Education Trust and MRPL are patronizing this third phase of Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan, said Swami Chidambarananda, convenern of the Abhiyan.

The resident students of Backward Class Girls’ Hostel and Minority Girl’s Hostel carried out the cleanliness drives in Chilimbi area in two teams. Rajaneesh, corporator, MCC and social activist Suresh Shetty flagged off the drive.
