Mangaluru, Sept 23, 2016: Team Mangalore, the hobby group of kite-fliers from the coastal city, has once again displayed its splendid kites that sparkled in the skies of Dieppe in France during the International Kite Festival held there recently.

This time, Team Mangalore  shed light on  the lives of tribals in India through  its  unique  six-foot wide ’Aadivasi’ kite that showed two tribals enjoying kite flying. Another unique 18 foot long and 12 foot wide kite named ’Dampathi’ (Couple) showed a  man  in Mysuru Peta and a woman in sari, resplendent of Indian tradition.

This is the seventh year that eminent artist Dinesh Holla and Satish Rao  from Team Mangalore are participating in this event.

The poster of the Dieppe Kite Festival depicting the art forms of Dieppe and India, which was designed by Dinesh  Holla received much applaud. An exhibition of Holla’s  36 works of art named ’Raaga Rekha’ too also widely appreciated.

Holla’s  painting of  “Indian Tribal” on a 36-metre-long canvas to mark the 36 years of the kite festival  won the commendation of Sandrine Saffurg, organiser of  ’Dieppe Capital of Kites.’ She even conferred a recognition award on him.

Displaying its great concern for  environment, Team Mangalore  has even tried to draw the attention of everyone towards the harm being caused to the eco-sensitive Western Ghats   in the name of various projects including Yettinahole. Through a signature campaign, it has collected  signatures from kite flying team members of  28 nations for a memorandum  in this regard  and has sent the same to UNESCO through  the Dieppe Mayor Sebastian Jumel.
