Mangaluru, Feb 14, 2019: N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed-to-be Univesity) has stressed the need for a transformation in the education system in the nation.
Speaking after inaugurating the Prajna Education Conclave organised by Ramakrishna Mutt here on February 14, Thursday, he said complete dedication on the part of the teaching fraternity can bring about the much needed change. "Teachers need to treat their students like their own children and teach them the values of life along with formal education. It is only then can the system see a change," he opined.
"The greatest concern of the present times is whether the lakhs of students who are graduating every year are getting jobs or whether the students are getting education that makes them responsible citizens. It is teachers who play a key role in making the students responsible citizens," he added.
Dr Viveka Rai, former vice chancellor of Hampi University said along with environmental cleanliness there was also need for Cleanliness Campaign in Education.
Swami Jithakamanandaji of Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangaluru delivered the keynote address. Swami Mangalanathanandaji of Bengaluru Ramakrishna Mutt, Prof Raghottam Rao of Manasa Centre for Training and Prof Vijay Menon from Kochi were the resource persons.
Former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik was present among others.
