Tailor from Mudipu allegedly abducted; robbed of cash, gold

Mangaluru, June 19, 2016: A tailor named Dharanappa Poojary (42) who owns a shop at Mudipu Junction was allegedly abducted and robbed of his cash and jewellery by  a group of assailants who had arrived by a Scorpio vehicle.

Dharanappa  has been admitted to  the Puttur Government Hospital.  Though he is from Maani, he currently stays in a rented house near the Post Office at Mudipu and ran DM Tailors at Mudipu Junction. It is said on June 17, Friday night, just as he was  closing his shop he was approached by a stranger saying he wanted to get a trouser stitched by him. As Dharanappa went  near the Scorpio vehicle in which the stranger had arrived, he was abducted  and taken towards Kerala, Mangaluru  and Uppinangady and in the  meanwhile assaulted, robbed of Rs 10,000 and his gold chain weighing  four sovereigns before abandoning him near Puttur.

He got himself admitted to the Government Hospital at Puttur the next morning. Police are suspecting the involvement of notorious criminal Rafique behind the incident.
