He said that a single tender will be invited for the work. With the ozonisation plant, the swimming pool will have crystal clear water and will not face the problem of accumulation of slime (algae) at the bottom of the pool. At present, owing to the formation of algae, water needs to be changed twice in a year. Once the ozonisation plant comes up, then the water needs to be changed once in two years.

The mayor also inspected the newly constructed dressing room, built at a cost of Rs 20 lakh, at the swimming pool.

Rajesh Kumar, Assistant Engineer of the corporation, said that now the corporation changed the water in the pool twice a year, which required 50 lakh litres of water. If there was ozonation system it was enough if we changed the water once two years. It would save 50 lakh litres of water a year. The Mayor said that a toilet complex has been built on the premises of the swimming pool now at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 lakh. The building of the pool would be renovated in phases later by constructing a gallery for seating 150 persons. It has been planned to replace the walk area tiles with anti-skid tiles to prevent slippery owing to accumulation of hair oil on the tiles.
