Mangaluru, Sep 27, 2017: The second branch of Swami Dwarakanath Theertha Charitable Trust set up by the Shree Samsthan Gokarna Parthagali Jeevottam Mutt, has been launched at the Gokarna Mutt in Mangaluru.
The first branch is in Bengaluru while the headquarters is in Parthagali Goa/Mumbai. The Trust has been set up by Sri Vidyadhiraja Theertha Swamiji, the 23rd pontiff of the Mutt in memory of his Guru Shree Dwarakanatha Swamiji who happened to be the 22nd pontiff of the Samsthan.
This was informed to reporters here by Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, Trustee of the newly launched Charitable Trust. He said the Mutt which is celebrating its 542nd anniversary has 33 branch Mutts across the nation.
The excess funds out of the collection made by the Mutt during the 2016 Suvarna Chaturmasa of the Swamiji at Gokarna Mutt is used as corpus of the Trust which will assist the under privileged and BPL families of the community by providing financial aid for funeral of needy members. It will also extend aid towards post-pregnancy expenses of women of the community from BPL and poor families . The facility is available for those who had their delivery at a government hospital. The Trust would initially concentrate on these two objectives till March next year after which it plans to hold various other service initiatives like free accident insurance for the unorganised sector employees of GSB community. It also intends to organise health camps, IAS, IPS coaching camps, Bhajan camps and such other activities.
